Larry Augustin

Larry Augustin

Larry Augustin is an angel investor and advisor to early stage technology companies. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Fonality, Hyperic, Medsphere, OSDL, Pentaho, SugarCRM, VA Software (NASDAQ: LNUX), and XenSource. One of the group who coined the term "Open Source", he has written and spoken extensively on Open Source worldwide. Worth Magazine named him to their list of the Top 50 CEOs in 2000. From 2002 to 2004 he was a Venture Partner at Azure Capital Partners. In 1993 he founded VA Linux (now VA Software), where he served as CEO until August 2002 and led the company through an IPO in 1999. Larry can be found online at http://lmaugustin.com.

Andre Boisvert

Andre Boisvert

Boisvert has been in the technology field for nearly 30 years. He started his career with IBM in 1976. During his 13 years at IBM, Boisvert held senior management positions in sales, marketing and R& D. After IBM, Boisvert held executive positions in some of the most respected software companies in the industry, such as Cognos Corporation and Oracle Corporation where he was Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and a member of Oracle's Management committee.

In 2000, Boisvert became President and COO, SAS Institute Inc., the world's largest privately held software company with revenues exceeding $1.5 billion annually. In 2003, Boisvert followed one of SAS' investments and became Chairman and CEO of Sagent Technologies (NASDQ: SGNT). In April of 2004, Boisvert successfully completed the sale of Sagent Technologies Inc. to Group 1 Software Inc. (NASDAQ: GSOF)

In October 2004, Boisvert co-founded Pentaho Corporation, the leading open source business intelligence company. In addition to serving as Pentaho's Chairman, Boisvert is currently a director of SlickEdit Inc., Dynamics Direct Inc., Palamida Corporation, UBmatrix Inc. and VA Software Inc. (NASDQ: LNUX).

Ram Gupta

Ram Gupta

Mr. Gupta was the executive in charge that orchestrated PeopleSoft's 2003 acquisition of J.D. Edwards. This catapulted PeopleSoft from being primarily an HR applications vendor to the second largest business applications company in the world. Gupta, at the time of the $1.8 billion transaction, served as executive vice president of PeopleSoft.

Currently, Gupta is president and CEO of Cast Iron Systems Inc., the world's leader in the fast growing integration appliances marketplace. Since his arrival at Cast Iron, the company has experienced triple-digit growth. Additionally, Gupta sits on the board of directors of publicly-traded companies such as VA Software (NASDAQ: LNUX), S1 Software (NASDAQ: SONE) and Knova Systems (KNVS), as well as privately-held companies including Plateau Systems and Accruent Inc.

Prior to PeopleSoft, Gupta held the position of senior vice president and general manager at WebMD. While at WebMD, he was part of the executive team that grew Healtheon from a single service, $5 million per year startup, to a publicly traded company, generating annual revenues exceeding $300 million. During his career, Gupta has held various management positions at Silicon Graphics, IBM and Tata Consulting Services.

Gupta is a member of Mensa Society, holds several U.S. patents and was a recipient of the Computerworld Smithsonian "Search for the Heroes" award in 2000. Gupta earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Vladimir Jacimovic

Vladimir Jacimovic

Vladimir joined NEA in 2005. He focuses on investments in information technology, including software, communications and technology-enabled services. Currently he is on the Board of Directors of Pentaho and serves as an advisor to Sugar CRM. Since starting his venture career with Robertson Stephens Venture Capital in 1996, Vladimir was involved in investments in over 20 companies, including CenterRun (acquired by Sun), Equinix (NASDAQ EQIX), Metapath (acquired by Marconi), OnDisplay (acquired by Vignette), Saba Software (NASDAQ SABA). Previous board memberships include, among others, AmberPoint, Cendura, IMLogic, NewScale. Before joining NEA, Vladimir was a Managing Director at Crosslink Capital, a fund established after a management buyout from Robertson Stephens. Previously, he was a Management Consultant with McKinsey and Company in San Francisco and Milan, Italy. Prior to that, Vladimir worked at Intel and Ingres. Vladimir received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco.

Jorg Janke

Jorg Janke

Jorg Janke is the founder of the Compiere ERP & CRM open source project and Chief Architect for Compiere, Inc. As the driving force behind Compiere's initial success, Jorg has more than 25 years of combined business and technical experience. Jorg currently focuses on product architecture, design, development and training.

Before founding Compiere, Jorg was Director Enterprise Systems in Oracle's Application Development Division (Redwood Shores, CA) and Manager Business Applications at the European HQ of Unisys (London).

Jorg holds a German BA in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom.

Don Klaiss

Don Klaiss

Don Klaiss, president and chief executive officer of Compiere, is responsible for company strategy, organization and operations. Don brings to Compiere over two decades of global executive leadership experience in the enterprise software industry.

Prior to joining Compiere, Don spent fifteen years at Oracle Corporation where he was most recently Senior Vice President, Applications. At Oracle Klaiss was instrumental in growing the company's enterprise applications software into a multi-billion dollar business. He also developed Oracle's entire industry-leading suite of manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, logistics, asset management and CRM service applications, building and running a 2,500 person applications development organization. Prior to his time at Oracle, Klaiss held senior management positions at technology firms including Ask Computer Systems, Inc., NCA Corporation, Covalent Systems Corporation and Hewlett-Packard.

Don holds a Bachelors degree from Rutgers University and a Masters degree from Stanford University.

Peter Sonsini

Peter Sonsini

Pete joined NEA in 2005 as Principal focusing on information technology investments, including software and systems. He is currently on the board of Compiere and actively involved with Xensource. Pete has 10+ years of operating experience in Silicon Valley that spans executive sales, marketing and finance roles. Prior to joining NEA, Pete was on the executive team at VMware where he built the company's initial strategic alliances and grew annual sales through OEMs from $0 to $40 million in four years. Prior to VMware, Pete was one of the first hires on the business side at Mirapoint, where he ran product management. Pete also served in various sales and marketing positions in Hewlett-Packard's server division, including Worldwide Product Manager for the mid-range server business. Pete began his career at Montgomery Securities where he was an Associate in the firm's Technology Corporate Finance group. Pete received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and his BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
